A leading boutique technology investment bank seeking a talented individual to join us as an Associate.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys technology and has two or more years of working as an investment banker with early-stage technology companies.

Initially, the position will be split roughly 80/20 between analytical and client management requirements, although we would expect the client engagement management component to grow over time.

Prerequisites & Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree from a top-tier university is preferred
  • 2+ years working in investment banking
  • SIE, Series 63, and Series 79 required
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of technology and finance
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong client focus and relationship management skills
  • Familiarity with financial statements, spreadsheets, and accounting
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Resourcefulness, energy, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

It is important that Associates have some degree of competence in basic Analyst skills, so they can provide direction to Analysts. In addition, it helps gain client confidence when Associates can articulate processes.

In particular, it is important for an Associate to know which tool or techniques are suitable for given situations.

  • Valuation and modeling
  • Accretion/dilution
  • Synergy models
  • LBO
  • General capital structure modeling
  • Gordon growth model.
  • Industry tools and analysis (Pitchbook or CapIQ)

Job Responsibilities

  • Research and analysis of technology market segments, client company analysis, valuation analysis, financial modeling, waterfall/payout models, working with several financial databases, organizing and preparing PowerPoint presentations, and controlling document flow on transactions.
  • Preparing presentations and documents for client and prospective investor review, identification and qualification of candidate investors or acquirers, organizing meetings and schedules, preparing the client for their meetings and presentations, managing due diligence, scheduling projects and resources to close a transaction, handling all transaction related issues and assisting the Directors and Vice Presidents of the firm.

  • Developing industry, market sector, and company research and analysis
  • Preparing company presentations and other client materials
  • Developing financial and valuation models
  • Interfacing with clients regularly
  • Calling investors or acquirers
  • Managing due diligence for the firm's clients
  • Managing transactions (M&A, valuations, private placements) and supporting senior deal team
