Jobs: Houston Cinema Arts Society is staffing the 2009 Festival

The Houston Cinema Arts Society is currently seeking qualified candidates to help with the 2009 Cinema Arts Festival Houston. To learn more about the organization and Festival please visit www.cinemartsociety.org

Part-time Film/Projection Tech: 2-month position (full-time two weeks in November)

· Receive and ship film prints, videos, and DVD
· Keep inventory, schedule, and conditions report for all films
· Work closely with filmmakers and distributors to ensure timely return of materials
· Work closely with venues and theater managers to arrange film drop-off/pick-up
· Order and rent necessary Festival equipment: projectors, speakers, mics, etc.
· Keep budget of shipping and equipment rental
· Troubleshoot technical issues with venues staff and filmmakers throughout Festival and during screenings
· Recruit, hire, and manage volunteers
· Reports to Managing Director, works closely with Festival Curator

Experience:
· Theater projection experience
· Video projection and installation experience
· Experience working with filmmakers, distributors, and theater managers
· Knowledge of projectors, sound equipment, screens and other related equipment
· ighly organized and great customer service skills

Box Office Coordinator/Ticket Sales: 3 weeks (part-time)
· Coordinate box office sales, ticketing
· Check online ticket sales daily, print reports and provide theaters with lists
· Schedule volunteers
Coordinate Festival registration, badges and onsite ticket sales
· Provide daily accounting summaries of ticket sales from each venue

Experience:
· Event ticketing experience
· Accounting background a plus

Position starts end of October.

Development Director
· Design and manage fundraising activities for the Houston Cinema Arts Society
· Co-develop annual fundraising plan and goal
· Monitor and evaluate all fundraising activities against these goals
· Research and identify prospective (and cultivate existing) donors – foundations, individuals and partner organizations
· Compile, write, and edit grant letters of intent and proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization’s guidelines
· Submit grant acknowledgment letters, progress reports and final reports to funders in a timely manner
· Acquire in-kind donations and corporate sponsorships
· Review program budgets and make recommendations
· Track fundraising activity to ensure compliance with deadlines
· Serve as liaison to the Board of Directors, providing quarterly grant reports and communicating periodic updates on how funds are used
· Help design creative and lucrative online fundraising strategies
· Assist with planning and execution of The Cinema Arts Festival Houston
· Oversee HCAS Membership

Major Qualifications:
· Strong writing, editing and communication skills; prior grant writing experience is a plus
· Organized and detail oriented
· Ability to prioritize, multi-task and track multiple deadlines
· Investment and personal commitment to the mission and values of the organization
· Ability and desire to work with a team in a creative, community-based environment
· Ability to publicly represent organization effectively, either formally or informally
· Creative and flexible / able to respond fluidly to changing priorities
· Self-motivated
· Fluent in Microsoft Office applications
· Experience with Google online applications (i.e. Google Docs, Calendar, etc.) is a plus

· Interview, hire, train and manage volunteers
· Assess staffing needs and schedule volunteers
· Coordinate volunteer events (pre-Festival party and thank you party)
· Other duties as needed
· Reports to Managing Director

Experience:
· Experience managing volunteers
· Ability to prioritize, multi-task and track multiple deadlines
· Ability and desire to work with a team in a creative, community-based environment
· Ability to publicly represent organization
· Creative and flexible / able to respond fluidly to changing priorities
· Self-motivated
