Strategic Proposal Writing

What's more, you will learn why proposal writing is much different than other kinds of writing.

Strategic Program Planning

In the Light of Italy” at Wyalusing’s Blue Heron Gallery

The Blue Heron Gallery in Wyalusing is presenting an exhibit inspired by the light of Italy entitled “In the Light of Italy”, Our Greco- Roman Heritage. In part, the exhibit is inspired by a show that took place in 1996 at the Nation Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, which centered on the 19th century French Painter, Corot and the first group of plien-aire artists to paint directly from observation while in Italy. The exhibit here in Wyalusing takes that theme, to now showcase contemporary artists and poets interpretations of all things Italian. This exhibit will however expand the theme to embrace the Greco-Roman tradition and neo-classic thrust of Renaissance artists, humanists, writers, sculptors, architects, politicians, and scientist. The energizing myth of the renaissance was a return to the study of life and to record the beauty of the world with a newly invigorated sense of the dignity of mankind. The technical abilities of those quatrocento artists expanded as did their vision- hence this show is somewhat of an homage.

The net cast by the exhibit theme is quite wide and may include contemporary and widely disparate sources, such as our Greek Revival buildings here in the USA or the actual land of Tuscany or works inspired by Renaissance and classical artists.
The exhibit will present a catalog of the show with many of the works reproduced in the publication along with the written work of regional poets. Poets have the opportunity of using many classical or renaissance writers as an inspiration or simply submitting poetic reportages of their readings or travels in the Mediterranean area. One could think of the precedence set by American writers D.H. Lawrence, Samuel Clemens and others or ancient writers like Cicero, Virgil, Livy and Homer.

The visual art submissions should be sent in j-peg form via e-mail to bkeeler@epix.net, or on a disc or with 35 mm slides.  The entry form available on the gallery web site should be completed and sent in with the$30 entry fee, check payable to Blue Heron Italian Light Show. The exhibit will take place August 20 to November 30, 2009.

The poets may submit up five works as well, via e-mail to bkeeler@epix.net. The fee for poets is $20 and that should be sent by mail or dropping it off at the gallery. The deadline for submissions for both artists and poets is June 15, 2009,
but early entries are encouraged to facilitate the compilation of the catalog.  A special opening and poetry reading will be at the gallery on Friday August 20 with live music and dancing too.

For information about the show visit the gallery web site at www.blueheronart.org or call 570-746-4922.  Blue Heron Gallery, 121 Main St- PO Box 813, Wyalusing.
