Dear Community Member,
Hogg Middle School is in the process of raising funds to build a Spark Park. Spark Park is a joint effort between the community and the school to build a beautiful park that can be used by students during the school hours and by the community in the evenings and on weekends. As the Heights is a community known for its unique character, this park will only add to its charm.
Spark Parks are usually funded by government grants. However, our park does not qualify due to the tax rate on the properties in the Heights area. Although the property values in the area are high, we are an inner-city school that serves inner-city, low income families. Therefore, it is up to the school to reach out to its attending students and their parents as well as the community to raise all of the money─ and we need your help.
To take us closer to our goal, the students and faculty are working hard to organize unique fundraising activities. We're hoping you'll take part in this next opportunity.
On September 13, 2008 Hogg Middle School is Roaring Back to the 20's with a Silent Auction Gala. The event will take place at the home of Bill Baldwin, 205 Bayland, a historic Heights landmark that has been restored to its 1920's beauty. We are asking businesses and community partners to contribute an item or service to be auctioned off at this event (all monies collected during this event will go directly toward funding our Spark Park). We would be grateful if your company would assist us in turning our plan for a Spark Park into a reality for the Hogg students and the community.
Please feel free to contact me for more information.
Sincerely,
Anne Baumgarten, Teacher Stefani Ayers, Teacher Imelda Medrano, Principal
